Today I'm gonna go all craft-blogger and show you the valentines that David and I made for his class Valentines Day party next week. (That's right: the party's not until NEXT WEEK and we made these puppies TODAY. Take a moment to bask in my preparedness, won't you?) When I gave him a choice between storebought and handmade valentines, he jumped at the chance to make his own - which was a relief, because there are few things I despise more than corny licensed-character valentines, and because it was good to spend some Quality Time with David that didn't involve Star Wars.
To start out, we used my Creative Memories tag maker to punch tag shapes out of card stock.
Next, copying from an idea I saw in last month's Martha Stewart Living (is there anything that woman can't do??), David used a stamp pad to make fingerprint hearts on each tag. We used a Martha Stewart ink pad in Snowflake.
Then he painstakingly signed his name on each one.
Seriously, painstakingly. This is hard work.
Next we threaded each tag with 1/8" ribbon. Isn't it cute?
While I was tying the ribbons onto the tags, David used my CM heart maker to punch little hearts out of pink cardstock.
Lots of hearts.
Then David filled the treat bags. Each 3"x4" glassine bag got three Hershey kisses and three pink hearts.
Last came the tags. Mine were a pain to tie, but I think that's because our thermostat is cranked down to 65 and my fingers were numb.
Ta-dah! Happy Valentines Day, Internet!
