Fortunately/Unfortunately

Once upon a time, a very small person named Noah was cranky and fussy and running at the nose.

Fortunately, his mother was able to call the pediatrician and make an appointment for the next morning.

Unfortunately, when they got to the pediatrician's office, Noah was so excited to play in the waiting room with all the other children and the other children's toys and the other children's germs that he completely forgot about being fussy and sick, and his mommy was afraid the doctor would laugh her out of the office for being One of Those Mothers.

Fortunately, the sweet doctor was kind enough to take a look at Noah anyway, despite his apparent cheerfulness.

Unfortunately, it turned out that Noah was sick after all.

Fortunately, Noah did not have pneumonia or West Nile Virus or ebola or any of those other things his mother was worried about.

Unfortunately, Noah did have an ear infection.

Fortunately, the doctor was quick to prescribe some Amoxicillin.

Unfortunately, the mommy had to wait at the pharmacy for over an hour with her two hungry, cranky kids.

Fortunately, the mommy finally made it home with her prescription, which she gave to the baby just before his nap.

Unfortunately, when the baby woke up from his nap, his eyes were puffy and his face was covered with itchy red spots.

Fortunately, the doctor's office had an after-hours line the mommy could call.

Unfortunately, it took them over two hours to return the mommy's call.

Fortunately, the mommy didn't need to bring Noah to the emergency room, as she had feared.

Unfortunately, the doctor said that Noah had developed an allergic reaction to his Amoxicillin.

Fortunately, the doctor was able to phone in a new prescription for the baby, as well as advise the mommy to give him some Children's Benadryl.

Unfortunately, the mommy didn't have any Benadryl on hand.

Fortunately, the daddy would be coming home from church soon, and he could stop and pick up some Benadryl and the new prescription on his way home.

Unfortunately, the daddy was kidnapped by aliens before he could make it to the pharmacy. The end.
